Company Profile

KeepCool USA was formed in 1999 to introduce insulated thermal bags to the U.S. market. As of today, KeepCool insulated bags have reached 10,000 U.S. supermarkets as an everyday or promotional item. Since 2005, we have further expanded our activities into reusable shopping totes and soft-sided coolers.

To stand out in this very competitive market, our constant focus has always been to develop innovative and distinct bags that make a better environmental alternative.

Together with our customers, we concentrate on:

• Developing innovative and sustainable materials, such as our new PET fabric made of recycled plastic bottles
• Designing innovative and practical shapes and features, such as bottle holders, foldable totes, round bottom, inner pocket
• Surpassing national and local environmental standards: all our products are made with the highest quality components and are Prop 65 and TiPPA compliant.

We work across three continents: Europe, Asia and North America. This unique geographical diversity allows us to pick up ideas across the board and always think ahead to develop better materials, better designs, in one word, better bags

Thanks to our extensive experience with some of the largest and most demanding retailers in North America, we can offer excellent logistics network, marketing/advertising/design capability, third-party audit and thorough knowledge of North American regulations. We not only offer better bags; we simply offer better service too.

Reusable bags: A growing market

Data released by the United States Environmental Protection Agency shows that somewhere between 500 billion and 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year.
Less that 1% of bags are recycled. “There’s harsh economics behind bag recycling: it costs $4,000 to process and recycle 1 ton of plastic bags which can then be sold on the commodities market for $32” (Jared Blumenfeld – Director of San Francisco Department of the Environment).

What is the solution then? Reusable bags.

Reusable bags propelled by new regulations banning give-away plastic and paper bags, have become big business abroad.  We are now witnessing North American trendsetters also jumping on the bandwagon.
TIME Magazine * says: “According to market-research company NPD’s Accessories Tracker, the hottest accessory in the US over last year through May 2008 has been reusable shopping totes. During that period, sales for these bags rose 72%.”

Reusable bags: A positive image

Consumers the world over are awakening to the pressing necessity to protect our environment:  Retailers want to capitalize on that trend, making a statement as environmentally conscious “citizens” while boosting their image as innovators.

For a retailer, selling and promoting inexpensive and sturdy reusable bags as an alternative to giving away paper or plastic bags systematically brings the following benefits:

• Reducing the logistic hassles and costs related to free bag give aways
• Increasing the satisfaction and loyalty of its customers
• Enhancing its image as a highly responsible corporate citizen
• Having a direct impact on the environment
• All this, while making a profit by selling bags instead of giving them away!

Reusable bags made of recycled plastic bottles:
    I used to be a plastic bottle™

Reusable bags are the only remedy to the disastrous environmental toll taken by one-time use, throw-away plastic or paper bags.
However, we felt that we had to take the concept a giant step further by not using new materials (or as little as technically possible) to produce reusable bags.

This became a very serious undertaking that we embarked on, an undertaking that took us all over the world to enlist expert knowledge in the recycling of materials. We put all our efforts, time and energy behind this venture and finally succeeded in developing a complete line of reusable bags made of post-consumer-waste.

What we’re proposing is unique. Although many shopping bags found on the market today claim to be made of recycled materials, very few of them can actually support that claim with official certificates of traceability of the materials, from collection of the used materials to the transformation into new materials.  There is indeed a lot more to “recycled” than plain marketing hype.

The impact of our new technology on the environment is two-fold:

• Because they are made of truly sustainable fabrics, our bags help divert disposable waste from our landfills
• Because they are very sturdy and reusable, our bags help reduce the consumption of plastic and/or paper bags.
